How it works
-
List your options
Type or paste names, ideas or prizes, one per line, from 2 to 100. Repeat a line to give it more chances.
-
Spin the wheel
Press Spin, the Space bar or the wheel itself. The winner is chosen fairly the moment you spin.
-
Read the result
The winner shows under the wheel and in the history. Remove it before the next spin if each option should win only once.
Frequently asked questions
Is the wheel really random?
Yes. The moment you spin, the winner is drawn with your browser’s cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues), using rejection sampling so that every slice has exactly the same chance. The animation is then calculated to stop on that slice. How hard or when you click changes nothing.
How many options can I add?
From 2 to 100, one per line. Blank lines are ignored. Long labels are shortened on the wheel to fit their slice, but the result always shows them in full. Adding the same line twice gives that option two slices, and twice the chance.
Can a winner be removed after it’s picked?
Yes. Tick “Remove the winner before the next spin”: you see the result first, and the winner leaves the list as soon as you spin again. It’s handy for picking an order of speakers or drawing several prizes in turn.
Is my list saved?
Your list and settings are kept in this browser only, so they’re still there next time you open the page. They are never sent to a server. To start afresh, clear the list.
Can I get the result without the animation?
If your device is set to reduce motion, the wheel skips the long spin and shows the result straight away. The draw is exactly the same.
Can I use it in class or on a big screen?
Yes. The wheel works with a mouse, a touch screen or the keyboard alone: press Space to spin. The result is also read aloud by screen readers.
