    How it works

    1. Choose the language and add your text

Pick the language your text is written in, then type or paste it. The dictionary loads on your device the first time.

    2. Review the underlined words

Possible mistakes are underlined in the text and listed on the side. Click a word, in the text or in the list, to see suggestions.

    3. Fix and copy

Choose a suggestion to correct the word, ignore it, or add it to your dictionary. Then copy the corrected text.

    Frequently asked questions

    Which languages can I check?

English (US spelling), French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Russian, Ukrainian and Turkish. Each language uses an open-source Hunspell dictionary, the same kind used by LibreOffice and many browsers.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. The dictionary is downloaded to your browser and every word is checked on your device. Your text is never uploaded, which makes the tool safe for private letters or work documents.

    Does it check grammar too?

No. It finds words that are not in the dictionary, such as typos and misspellings. It does not check grammar, agreement or word choice, so a correctly spelled word used in the wrong place won’t be flagged.

What does “Add to dictionary” do?

It teaches the checker a word it doesn’t know, such as a name or a technical term, so it is no longer underlined. Your added words are saved in this browser only. “Ignore” skips the word until you close the page.

Why is a correct word underlined?

Dictionaries don’t contain every name, brand, rare word or recent term. If you are sure the word is right, ignore it or add it to your dictionary. Long compound words, common in German or Swedish, may also be flagged when the dictionary doesn’t list them. Words in capitals and words containing numbers are skipped by default.

Why does the first check take a moment?

The dictionary for your language is downloaded and prepared on your device the first time you use it, which can take a few seconds for larger languages. After that, checking is instant while the page stays open.

    2. Choose “Install One For All” or “Install page as app”: a shortcut is added to your desktop and your apps.

    Download this tool’s engine?

This tool works entirely in your browser. To do that, it needs to download the items below from One For All, just once. They are then kept on this device, so next time the tool starts right away.

Your files are never sent anywhere.
