Frequently asked questions
Does the alphabetical order respect my language?
Yes. Sorting uses your browser’s built-in rules for the language of this page, so accented letters land where a dictionary would put them, and letters such as the Swedish å, ä and ö come after z.
What does natural number order mean?
With natural order, numbers inside the text are compared by value, so “file 2” comes before “file 10”. Without it, lines are compared character by character and “file 10” comes first.
How does sorting by number work?
Each line is sorted by the first number it contains, including negative numbers, decimals and thousands separators such as 1,250.50. Lines without a number go to the end.
Is the shuffle really random?
Yes. Shuffle uses your browser’s cryptographic random number generator and gives every possible order the same chance. Click “Shuffle again” for a new order.
Is my list sent to a server?
No. Sorting happens entirely in your browser. Your list is never uploaded or stored.
