Frequently asked questions
Why does this tool need your server?
Browsers don’t let one website read another website’s pages directly. So our server fetches the page for you, reads it, and sends back only the results. We don’t keep the page or the address.
What is the ideal length for a title and a meta description?
Aim for about 30 to 60 characters for the title and 70 to 160 for the description. Japanese, Chinese and Korean characters take about twice the width, so in those languages it’s about 15 to 30 and 35 to 80, and the tool adjusts automatically. Longer texts are usually cut off in search results, and very short ones waste the space.
Why can’t some pages be analyzed?
We can only fetch public pages over the standard web ports. Pages that need a login, addresses on private or local networks, files that aren’t web pages and pages larger than 2 MB are refused or skipped.
Does this tool see the page exactly like Google?
It reads the HTML your server sends, without running JavaScript. If your site builds its content with JavaScript, Google may see more than this tool does, once it renders the page.
What is a canonical tag?
It tells search engines which address is the main one when the same content can be reached at several addresses, for example with tracking parameters. It helps avoid duplicate pages in results.
Is a high number of checks passed a guarantee of good rankings?
No. These checks cover the technical basics that are easy to get right. Rankings also depend on the quality of your content, how useful it is, and other sites linking to it.
How do I save the analysis as a PDF?
Click “Save as PDF” once the analysis is done. Your browser’s print window opens with a formatted report: choose “Save as PDF” as the destination. The PDF is created by your browser, on your device.
