Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Your browser draws each page and saves it as a PNG on your device. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
Why choose PNG rather than JPG?
PNG is lossless: text, thin lines and flat colors stay exactly as sharp as on the page, with no blur around the letters. It suits slides, diagrams, plans and screenshots. For photos and scans, JPG makes much smaller files.
Can I get a transparent background?
Yes. Choose Transparent and only what is drawn on the page is kept. Some PDFs, such as scans and many exported documents, paint a white rectangle behind their content: that white stays, because it is part of the page itself.
Which resolution should I choose?
Screen (72 dpi) is enough for a quick preview. Standard (150 dpi) suits most screens and documents. Print (300 dpi) gives the sharpest result, with four times as many pixels as at 150 dpi, so much larger files.
Why are my PNG files so large?
Lossless means every pixel is kept as it is, so a full page at high resolution weighs more than a JPG. Lower the resolution, or use our PDF to JPG converter for lighter files.
