Your icon

How it works

  1. Add your logo

Drop an SVG, PNG or JPG, choose it, or paste it. A square image of at least 512 × 512 pixels gives the sharpest icons.

  2. Adjust the look

Add an inner margin, a background color or rounded corners, and check the result in a browser tab and on a phone home screen.

  3. Download and paste the code

Download the ZIP, put its files at the root of your website, then paste the code into the <head> of your pages.

Frequently asked questions

Which files do I get?

A favicon.ico file that holds the 16, 32 and 48 pixel icons, PNG icons in 16, 32, 48, 192 and 512 pixels, a 180 pixel apple-touch-icon.png for iPhones and iPads, and a site.webmanifest file that lets Android use your 192 and 512 pixel icons. Download them one by one or all together in a ZIP file.

Where do I put the files?

At the root of your website, next to your home page, so they can be reached at addresses like /favicon.ico. Then paste the code shown under the preview inside the <head> of every page. Browsers also look for /favicon.ico on their own, so even pages without the code get your icon.

What size should my image be?

Square and at least 512 × 512 pixels, the size of the largest icon. An SVG is ideal: it is drawn sharply at every size. A smaller image still works, but the large icons are then enlarged and look soft.

Why does my icon look blurry or too small in the browser tab?

At 16 pixels, fine details and thin text disappear. Use a simple mark, such as a letter or a symbol, rather than a full logo with words, keep the inner margin small, and choose “Crop to a square” if your image is wide.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Your image is read, resized and saved in your browser, on your device. It is never sent anywhere.

Why does the Apple touch icon have a background?

iPhones and iPads round the corners of home screen icons themselves and show transparent areas in black. So the Apple touch icon always gets a solid background and square corners: your background color, or white if you chose transparent.

  2. Choose “Install One For All” or “Install page as app”: a shortcut is added to your desktop and your apps.
