Sealed
Your PDF
Choose a password of at least 8 characters, ideally a short phrase.
The two passwords are different. Type the same password twice.
Keep this password somewhere safe. Without it, nobody can open the protected PDF, not even us.
How it works
-
Add your PDF
Drop a PDF or pick it from your device.
-
Choose a password
Type it twice, then choose whether people who open the file may print, copy or edit it.
-
Protect and download
Select Protect PDF. The encrypted file downloads straight away and asks for the password when opened.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF or my password sent anywhere?
No. The encryption happens in your browser, on your device. Neither the file nor the password is sent to us or to anyone else.
How secure is the protection?
The PDF is encrypted with AES-256, the strongest method the PDF format offers. Its safety then depends on your password: a long phrase is far harder to guess than a short word.
What if I forget the password?
Nobody can recover it, us included, because it is never stored anywhere. Keep a copy of the original PDF or of the password in a safe place.
What do the permissions do?
They tell PDF readers whether printing, copying or editing is allowed once the file is open. Most readers follow them, but they are a request rather than a lock; only the password truly blocks access.
Will the PDF open everywhere?
Yes. Every current PDF reader, on computers and phones, opens AES-256 files once the right password is typed.
