Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Both documents are read and compared by your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
What exactly is compared?
The text of the two documents. Changes of layout, fonts, colours or images are not detected.
Can I compare scanned documents?
Not directly, because a scan contains pictures rather than text. Run each one through OCR PDF first, then compare the results.
Word by word or line by line?
Word by word shows the precise edits inside sentences, ideal for contracts. Line by line is faster and clearer for long documents with many changes.
Does it work in every language?
Yes. Words are recognised in every script, including Chinese, Japanese and Thai, which don’t use spaces between words.
