How it works

  1. Enter the date of birth

Use the calendar or type the date. The age appears as soon as the date is complete.

  2. Keep today, or pick a date

The age is calculated for today. Choose another date to find how old someone was, or will be, on that day.

  3. Read the age

See the age in years, months and days, the totals in weeks, days and hours, the day of the week of birth and the countdown to the next birthday.

Frequently asked questions

How is an exact age calculated?

Whole years are counted first, then whole months, then the remaining days. Someone born on 14 March 1990 is 36 years, 7 months and 6 days old on 20 October 2026: 36 years lead to 14 March 2026, 7 months to 14 October, and 6 more days to 20 October.

What if I was born on 29 February?

In years without a 29 February, the calculator counts the birthday on 28 February, so the age goes up by one year on 28 February. Laws differ from country to country, and some use 1 March for legal purposes.

How are months counted at the end of a month?

A month after 31 January is 28 February, or 29 in a leap year, because February has no 31st. So a baby born on 31 January is 1 month old on 28 February, and 1 month and 1 day old on 1 March.

Can I find an age on a past or future date?

Yes. Change the “Age on” date to see how old someone was on a given day, or how old they will be on a future date. The date of birth just has to come first.

Are the totals in hours exact?

They count the whole days since the date of birth, multiplied by 24, without the time of birth. Changes to and from daylight saving time don’t affect the result.

Is my date of birth stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and the dates you enter are never sent anywhere.
